Thank you for considering Hadlow College.

Before commencing your application, please ensure you have the details of two people who can act as references (for a full-time course), one of which ideally should be from your school or college.  You will also be asked to confirm details of any qualifications you're currently taking (such as GCSEs) together with predicted grades.

To apply for part-time courses you will just need to confirm the course, campus, your contact details and payment method.

Please note that for higher education and degree programmes, students need to apply through UCAS.

Award in Practical Animal Care Skills (QCF)

The qualification is aimed at those with some experience in the sector or those wishing to go on to further study or find employment in the sector.

Teaching will be 50% theory and 50% practical with all students having to complete practical duties on the animal unit as part of their assessment.

Assessment will be via practical demonstration of skills which will be recorded for external verification and answering of some theoretical questions reviewing these skills there are no exams.

The units that will be covered are:

  • Select and prepare accommodation for animals
  • Maintain animal accommodation
  • Prepare feed for animals
  • Provide feed and water for animals

Entry Requirements

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements, candidates must have an interest in the sector and ideally some experience working within it.
