Before commencing your application, please ensure you have the details of two people who can act as references (for a full-time course), one of which ideally should be from your school or college.  You will also be asked to confirm details of any qualifications you're currently taking (such as GCSEs) together with predicted grades.

To apply for part-time courses you will just need to confirm the course, campus, your contact details and payment method.

Please note that for higher education and degree programmes, students need to apply through UCAS.

Level 1 Diploma in Sport


Designed for students who enjoy sport and fitness, as well as have the desire to improve their own personal fitness, this course focuses on the various aspects associated with working in the sport and leisure industry. You will benefit from a series of practical activities to help you develop a greater level of independence and learn the skills of effective communication, self-management and working safely. It is the ideal course for students with few formal qualifications, but who wish to study a vocationally relevant course.

A Sports Team and CACT Football Academy Course:

This course is linked to our Sports Teams and represents an exciting opportunity for aspiring sports professionals. Working with respected organisations, including Charlton Athletic Community Trust, our Sports Teams offer competitive fixtures, professional coaching and the opportunity to develop your skills further.

Full Time

College Attendance:

1 year, 3-4 days a week.

Assessment Method:

Students will be assessed throughout the course using assignments, tests and practical observations.

Entry Requirements:

Minimum of 2 GCSEs at D - E / 3 – 2 Grade or equivalent (Entry level 3).

Applicants to this course who wish to join one of our Sports Teams will also, in addition to meeting the College entry criteria, need to fulfil any individual and league entry requirements relating to the sports teams.

Progression Routes:

Successful students can further enhance their skills by enrolling onto a Level 2 in Sport or, should they wish to, progress straight into the sport and leisure industry.

Additional Learning Opportunities:

Students may have the opportunity to undertake additional short qualifications as part of their course. These are designed to support future careers.

Specialist Equipment Needed:

In addition to standard college equipment, students will need appropriate sports clothing for practical activities.

Animal Management Students Get Creative for Wildlife Trust Hedgehog Haven

Back in late April, to coincide with Hedgehog Awareness Week, our Animal Management department ran a competition, in partnership with the Kent Wildlife Trust, for our FE and HE students to produce a new design for the Trust’s ‘Best Garden for Hedgehogs’ award, sponsored by Kent Mammal Group.
