Thank you for considering Hadlow College.

Before commencing your application, please ensure you have the details of two people who can act as references (for a full-time course), one of which ideally should be from your school or college.  You will also be asked to confirm details of any qualifications you're currently taking (such as GCSEs) together with predicted grades.

To apply for part-time courses you will just need to confirm the course, campus, your contact details and payment method.

Please note that for higher education and degree programmes, students need to apply through UCAS.

Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Work-Based Agriculture (Poultry Production)

Formerly known as an NVQ, and taking place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor, this course is aimed at those students who are working either on a poultry farm or in a hatchery. Through this qualification you will gain the essential skills needed to progress in the industry, as well as a solid understanding of the welfare issues surrounding poultry production.

  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety
  • Maintain and develop personal performance
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Plus optional units relevant to the industry within which the candidate works, such as brood ypung birds, hatch eggs and despatch poultry and establish and maintain egg production.

Assessment Method:

Diploma: Portfolio of evidence and practical assessment.

Intermediate apprenticeship: portfolio of evidence, practical assessment and underpinning knowledge test

Entry Requirements:

Students must be employed or in a one year work placement within the industry.

Progression Routes:

Successful students can progress their career with their employer.

Apprenticeships

We offer intermediate apprenticeships, advanced apprenticeships and fee-paying routes into agriculture and horticulture. These qualifications, whch are recongised by Lantra, can be tailored to suit the employer and their needs. Apprenticeships are available to students in suitable employment who are aged between 16-18 years old (fully funded) or 19-24 years old (with an employer contribution towards the cost of tuition).
