Formerly known as an NVQ, and taking place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor, this course is aimed at students who are already working in the industry and provides an understanding of the essential skills needed to progress within the landscape sector. Complementing your existing experience with a mix of theory and practical training, by the end of the course you will have gained a solid foundation within this industry and be able to carry out a variety of different tasks.
- Monitoring and maintaining health and safety
- Maintain and develop personal performance
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Levelling and preparing sites for landscaping
- Use and maintain non-powered and hand-held powered tools and equipment
- Clearing horticultural and landscaping sites
Plus optional units relevant to the industry within which the candidate works.
Diploma: Portfolio of evidence and practical assessment.
Intermediate apprenticeship: portfolio of evidence, practical assessment and underpinning knowledge test
Students must be employed or in a one year work placement within the industry.
Successful students can progress their career with their employer.
We offer intermediate apprenticeships, advanced apprenticeships and fee-paying routes into agriculture and horticulture. These qualifications, whch are recongised by Lantra, can be tailored to suit the employer and their needs. Apprenticeships are available to students in suitable employment who are aged between 16-18 years old (fully funded) or 19-24 years old (with an employer contribution towards the cost of tuition).
