Kent 16+ Travel Card Online Application - valid from June 2016

To be eligible for a KCC 16+ Travel Card (T/C) you must be:

• a student aged 16-19 years
• live in a house where council tax is paid to Kent County Council, or be a residential student at Hadlow College, if you are outside of the KCC council tax boundary.

Students who do not qualify for the Kent 16+ T/C may also like to visit www.arrivabus.co.uk and apply for a discounted South East Student Saver Ticket (available with the promotional code issued from mid-August onwards).  Please contact studentfinance@hadlow.ac.uk for details.
Other bus users can obtain discounted fares on the local Arriva route 7 service (Maidstone / Tunbridge Wells / Tonbridge) to and from Hadlow College by showing their Hadlow College Student ID card.

Payment for Kent 16+T/C

If you prefer to pay by debit or credit card, please contact Hadlow College Finance department on 01732 850551 and ask for the receipt to clearly state Kent 16+ T/C and the student’s name. The amount payable is dependent upon the date from which the Travel Card is valid.  Please check online at the KCC website for current prices and allow enough time for the application to be processed.

When paying by cheque, the payee will be ‘Hadlow College’ and you must include the student's name and Kent 16+ T/C on the back of the cheque before posting to: Kent 16+ T/C, Student Support Services, Hadlow College, Tonbridge Road, Hadlow, Kent, TN11 0AL.

Financial Support

If you have a household income of under £25,000 and are on a full time course, you can apply for financial assistance by completing the Financial Support Application Form, sent to you by post on acceptance of a place at College, or available from our Admissions department.  Please read the guidance notes carefully and ensure that you provide the correct evidence of household income so that we can assess the application as quickly as possible.  We will notify you of our decision during the summer.  The College can support with the full cost of a Kent 16+ T/C, however, please do not delay in applying for one while you are waiting to receive notification of our decision.

Please note that if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for financial support when we assess your application but have applied for a Travel Card, you will either need to pay for the card, or we will send it back to KCC.

Applying Online

Please apply for the Travel Card online at www.kent.gov.uk/post16travel where you will need to upload a clear, passport-style image of the student, which will appear on the Travel Card.  At peak times of the year, Travel Cards can take up to six weeks to be returned to College, where they should be collected by the student.   Please note that we can only release Travel Cards once payment has been arranged or financial support agreed.
