Horticulture is the art of cultivating plants to produce food and medicinal ingredients, or for ornamental purposes. Horticulturists are agriculturists who grow flowers, fruits and nuts, vegetables, and herbs, as well as ornamental trees and lawns. Grow your knowledge of the scientific principles, maintenance and propagation techniques including vitally important sustainable horticulture practices. Plants, crops, and green spaces sustain and enrich our lives by providing nutritious food, enhancing the beauty of our homes and communities, and reducing our carbon footprint. Sustainable horticulture is a way of growing plants that is sensitive to the environment.
Our courses cover a wide range of Horticultural subjects, and you can pursue careers in: Production, Horticulture Food Science & Genetic Engineering, Landscape Construction & Management, Amenity Horticulture, Fresh Food Produce, Nursery Stock Production, Gardening, Greenkeeping, Sports Turf and Garden Design.

Earn whilst you learn with a Horticulture Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship is a real job that gives you a learning platform to train and develop your skills, knowledge, and behaviours in your chosen profession.
20% of your contracted working hours will be spent in training and development, either with us at college, or even in your workplace. The remainder of your time will be spent applying and developing your skills and knowledge deeper in your workplace.
We currently offer a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscape Operatives apprenticeship
You will be employed to work in public parks and gardens, green spaces and historic gardens, private gardens and estates or in production nurseries and retail outlets. Many businesses will be specialised in their activities, such as grounds maintenance (soft-landscape) or landscape construction (hard-landscape).
