Garden Assistant
A garden assistant works at garden centres selling plants and garden supplies. Garden assistants can provide care for plants and flowers, plant bulbs, help clients transplant plants, examine soil quality, and inspect plants for diseases.
Greenskeeper
A greenskeeper is responsible for caring for the landscape at a golf course or country club. Greenskeepers manage the grounds of the golf course, maintain equipment such as lawnmowers or tractors, plant and fertilize new patches of grass and safely apply pesticides. They may also provide advice when golf courses want to move golf holes or create new construction projects.
Nursery Worker
A nursery worker is responsible for taking care of plants in a tree or plant nursery. Nursery workers follow planting and care schedules, water plants, wrap saplings and transport purchased plants. Workers may also manage irrigation systems, keep records of plant care or sales and answer customer questions.
Horticultural Therapist
Horticultural therapist engages in gardening and other plant-based activities to help patients with their physical or mental health problems. Horticultural therapists may teach gardening classes, collaborate with doctors to meet a patient's health goals, improve a patient's physical strength through gardening exercises and design therapeutic gardens.
Horticultural Inspector
Horticultural inspector examines plants, seeds, plant facilities and processes to ensure they comply with regulations. As employees of a government agency, horticultural inspectors analyse plants and food products, label inspected products and issue recalls for products that do not meet health standards. Horticultural inspectors can investigate a wide variety of facilities such as farms, food processing plants and logging factories.
