This year’s Lambing Weekend, our flagship event heralding the start of Spring, saw us welcome 13,000 visitors to our site at Faulkner’s Farm on the 11th and 12th March. Running for 25 years now, the event continues to expand, with this year featuring more exciting family activities and food stalls showcasing the best of our local produce than ever before
As part of The Hadlow Group’s continuing commitment to delivering first class training and education across Kent, it has begun a joint venture with Rosemary Shrager’s Cookery School in The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells.
The Hadlow Group had a hugely successful three days at the Kent County Show this year. The main marquee had a countryside and sustainability theme, with a host of exciting stands and interactive activities on offer.
Hadlow College saw a packed Pym Hall last Thursday evening, with 150 local residents attending a recording of the flagship BBC Radio 4 programme, Gardeners’ Question Time.
On Wednesday, 10th February 2016 students and ex-students of Hadlow College had the exciting opportunity to meet a broad range of employers and speak to them about organisations and careers in the land-based sector, amongst others.
Brimming with pride and new-found confidence, the first group of students have graduated from the new Sector Based Work Academy at Thanet Earth, run in conjunction with Hadlow College. Five participants were selected for the scheme by the Job Centre Plus in Margate, where the group of jobseekers are being supported back into work.
Our strategic plan and operational objectives for 2015-2020 were announced at an evening event for stakeholders, patrons and staff on 3rd December, held at our Animal Management Unit (AMU).
Our Agriculture students are celebrating after achieving four prizes at the annual two-day Ashford Fat Stock event on the 30th Nov-1st Dec. The College was awarded 1st and 4th prizes for their pigs in the 80-100kg heavy class, qualifying for the championship round, where they won 1st and Champion Pig Carcass.
Two of our Floristry staff have returned from a day at Leeds Castle, where they were invited to exhibit and represent Hadlow College in their Annual Festival of Flowers.
Our Agriculture and Apprenticeship, Business and Communities (ABC) department enjoyed a busy day at the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match. Held in Marden, the ploughing match luckily went ahead, despite recent heavy rain and on the day the sun came out!
It has been a busy summer for our Agriculture department, following all of their activity and involvement at the Kent County Show, the focus shifted to the Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show.
We have enjoyed another successful 3 day Kent County Show (10th, 11th, 12th July) at the Detling Showground, with an impressive marquee packed full of faculty areas eager to showcase their part of the College.
Hadlow College’s vision for the regeneration of a former mining community in East Kent has seen it win ‘Best in Show’ at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
We have enjoyed another successful South of England Show. Our main stand, run by our Agriculture department and a committed team of Agricultural Engineering students, was well attended by visitors with course enquiries.
Our Level 5 Floristry students are busy creating their entries for the RHS Chelsea Floristry College of the year 2015 competition, which will take place at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.

We recently held our annual Landscape and Horticulture Conference, attended by current Higher Education students studying both the BSc (Hons) and FdSc Horticulture programmes, as well as those on the FdSc Garden Management, HND Landscape Management and HND Garden Design programmes.
Students on our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture and our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horticulture courses, will now benefit from a range of specialist, ergonomically designed, pruning equipment.

On Friday 26th September, Hadlow College, together with The British Independent Fruit Growers Association [BIFGA] held an educational outdoors event for local school students.
Our FE Fresher’s Fair for new Further Education students was, as usual, a hive of activity.
On 17th September Hadlow College together with Eblex and NSA held a very informative Ram Management Workshop with a focus on ‘Fit For Purpose Breeding Rams’
A team of staff and friends of Hadlow College and West Kent’ were delighted to take part in the 2014 Tonbridge Dragon Boat Race on Sept 14th. The Dragon Boat Race was part of a Medieval Weekend at Tonbridge Castle, with a range of themed activities and entertainment taking place.
The Hadlow College farm team recently spent 3 days at the South of England show and entered into a number of classes with the following results.
A group of 38 Agriculture students studying towards the Level 2 Diploma and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture benefited from attending first aid training provided free of charge by NFU Mutual, with the assistance of the St Johns Ambulance.
A group of Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Outdoor Activity students have been involved in supporting the celebrations of the arrival of the Queen’s Baton at Tonbridge Castle this morning.
On Sunday 25th May, second year students from the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management once again successfully organised the Annual Horse Show.
Our Canterbury campus was buzzing with activity on Saturday for our Annual Canterbury Open Day. Despite the rainy start in the morning we were busy with members of the public who visited to look around and enquire about our full and part-time courses.
