Agriculture students benefit from grassland demonstration.
Representatives from Burden Bros Agri Ltd and Sumo UK Ltd visited Hadlow College last week and gave a presentation to around 60 Level 3 extended diploma in Agriculture students. The talk focused on getting maximum productivity out of grassland through good soil management.
Following the talk a GLS trial was set up at the college where a field was split into 3 areas:- a control area with no treatment, a shallow spike aeration area and a deeper worked area using Sumo’s GLS grassland subsoiler.
The Students will be involved in measuring grass growth and taking worm counts across the whole field over the coming months.
It was an excellent opportunity for our students to meet with industry experts.
The students are planning to set up a similar trial in the autumn, which should give optimum results as it is a better time to subsoil.
