Three Apprentices Entered into Prestigious Greenkeeper Award

Posted on 28th May 2014 in Apprenticeships

Three apprentices from Hadlow College have recently been entered into the prestigious Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year Award 2014.

Acknowledged as the highlight of the student greenkeepers’ year, success in the competition will see the winner crowned ‘Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year’ and be awarded the Toro Scholarship.  This comprises an eight week trip to the USA to study the latest American turf management techniques, with the chance to tour Toro headquarters and visit the GCSAA Golf Industry Show in San Antonio, Texas in February 2015.

The two runners-up will be invited to attend the ‘Continue to Learn’ Education Programme at BTME 2015.

All of the Hadlow College students have only been in the industry for around two years and are currently studying for their Level 2 qualification.  During the time they have been working and training they have both individually shown their dedication and passion for the industry, often going the extra mile to further their knowledge and understanding.  Should they be shortlisted they will then be invited to a regional interview and, upon being selected as a finalist, will then be entered into the National Final in September.
