Fisheries Management Students Undertake Fish Rescue

Posted on 16th May 2013 in Fisheries Management

Level 2 Diploma in Fish Husbandry and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fish Management students recently carried out a fish rescue for Lamorbey Angling Society.  The aim of the day was to capture fish that had accidentally escaped out of the fishing area and into the nature reserve area.  Having fish in the nature reserve area encourages illegal fishing to take place and also affects the habitat for other species including invertebrates, aquatic vegetation and birds.  The lake is in an urban area and encourages young people to get into the sport of angling. The Society were very pleased with the results and the students all had a great day developing practical skills and making a positive contribution to the local community.
