Hadlow to Host Intercollege Grooming Competition

Posted on 3rd April 2013 in Animal Management

On Sunday 21st April 2013, for the 3rd consecutive year, Hadlow College will be hosting the annual 'Intercollege South Dog Grooming' competition.

The competition, taking place at our Animal Management Unit, will see students from other land-based colleges in the South such as Writtle, Sparsholt, Merrist Wood, Plumpton and Hadlow College as well as other City and Guilds registered training facilities competing against each other.  Any student who attends a City and Guilds training course can compete, this is an informal competition and the aim of the day is to get students involved in grooming competitions and to share best practice.

Last year’s individual competition was won by Hadlow College student Jane Levy, with Chichester College winning the overall team competition.

Our guest speaker will be Diana North fondly known by many as the ‘Doyenne of the grooming industry’. Diana developed the Pet Care Trust’s Higher Diploma, she is a founder and honorary member of the British Dog Grooming Association, a founder member of the Guild of Master Groomers, a member of the City & Guilds Association and the founder of the Look North Training School.

Individual competitions will run in the morning and team competitions in the afternoon.  English Groomers Group will be running demonstrations throughout the day.  Why not come to one of our ‘Ask the Experts’ sessions or even learn about Canine first aid for groomers.  We will also be issuing CPD certificates for attending the seminars on the day.

Hot and cold refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day.

This year we are offering tickets to non-competitors, tickets cost £5.00 each please contact Judith Adkins 01732 853272.
