Students on our Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry course will have, over the next few months, the opportunity to work on a floral exhibit for the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show which takes place in July.

Sketch of the Floristry exhibit of Bill and BenEach year the RHS selects a different theme that the floral displays need to incorporate and, this year, it is ‘Vintage 1950s’.  Although the RHS suggest a number of different ways this can be incorporated, our Level 4 Floristry students have settled on something quite unique.  In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the children’s TV programme ‘Bill and Ben’ (which was first aired in December 1952), the Hadlow College exhibit will have be a stylised interpretation of this iconic programme with an allotment theme and utilising flowers to depict the mischievous pair’s antics.

The College has enjoyed a number of successes already at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – winning a Gold Medal and ‘Best in Show’ in 2010 for its depiction of the Crown Jewels and Silver Gilt Medals in 2011 and 2012 for its depictions of the ‘Swinging 60s’ and ‘Romance and Roses’.  It is hoped we can continue and, if possible, build on these successes this year.
