Mottingham Plant Fair and Open Day

Posted on 29th April 2013 in Horticulture, Events

Over 600 visitors came and met our staff and students over the weekend at our Plant Fair and Open Day held at our Mottingham Campus, and enjoyed range of activities and events.  We received some amazing feedback from visitors and our students were absolutely fantastic – polite, professional and a real credit to the College and the Mottingham Team.

Some of the activities included:

• Pet Photo Competition (run by our Extended Diploma students) – (see our Facebook Page for results)
• Environment Awareness Stall (run by our Level 1 Students)
• Student made - Bird Feeder and Plant Sales (run by Foundation Students) raising an impressive amount of money for the RSPB
• Demonstration on Dog Health Checks (run by our Level 2 Students)
• Ferret Enrichment and Play demonstration (Technical Instructors)
• Animal Unit Tours (Hadlow College Student led)
• Plant Propagation and Identification (Horticulture Team)
• Cake Stall (with over 90 slices of cake sold – a record!)
• Broadview Plant Fair
• Hadlow College Farm Shop Stall
• Hadlow College Careers and Marketing Information trailer

Christine Walkden, resident gardening expert from The One Show on BBC1 also spent time meeting staff and students and held a lively Gardeners’ Question Time in the marquee.  We had some great enquiries about our range of courses on offer, plus many wanted to know when we are open again – so they can come back!
