Princess Christian’s Farm Students Complete the Six Book Challenge
Twenty-six students from Princess Christian’s Farm (PCF) successfully completed the Reading Agency’s six book challenge and were awarded certificates by Steve Brown, London 2012 Paralympic GB Wheelchair Rugby Captain, at the Hadlow College Presentation day on 4th July 2014.
The challenge aims “to build people’s reading confidence and literacy skills, improving their life chances… and support people’s health and wellbeing.” Following its launch in March 2014, PCF students visited the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) to prepare for the task. To complete the challenge and gain their certificates, each student had to read six books and record the details in a diary. Staff from the LRC worked closely with staff from PCF as they supported the students towards a successful outcome.
The LRC team was impressed by the level of enthusiasm and commitment shown by all of those who took part, and the team is looking forward to running the challenge again and to opening it up so that more students can participate.Go Back
