Student Success at the Autumn Show and Game Fair
A group of agriculture students recently attended the Autumn Show and Game Fair, organised by the South of England Agricultural Society (SEAS).
Each year the show holds a student assignment awards competition, run by the Society, as part of their work to promote excellence and innovation in the countryside. This year the awards were presented by Lord Egremont from the Petworth Estate in West Sussex
Our students submitted four agricultural and land-based technology assignments for the awards; competing against other land-based colleges including Plumpton College and Chichester College. Overall our students did exceptionally well with Lydia King winning first place for her Level 2 assignment; Simone Wood winning third prize for her Level 2 assignment and both James Clark and Chris King were highly commended for their Level 3 assignments. Lydia and Simone have since progressed on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture course, Chris has progressed onto the second year of his Level 3 Extended Diploma. James completed his qualification and has gone onto work in the industry with Mick Gould Commercial vehicles as a commercial Engineer.
Derek Cleaver, Chair of the Society’s Education Committee, said “The quality of entrants this year was excellent, and we are pleased to work with the top agricultural colleges in the region as part of the Society’s educational charity work which supports young people to innovate and excel in countryside careers.”
