The Horse of the Year Show

Posted on 10th October 2014 in Equine Management, HE News

A group of BSc (Hons) Equine Management and BSc (Hons) Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation students recently attended this year’s Horse of the Year Show.

The Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) "The World’s Most Famous Horse Show" is held at the NEC in Birmingham.  As well as the opportunity to watch exciting equestrian classes and displays from the packed timetable, HOYS also holds educational talks to supplement the classes taking place each day.  The students attended talks by Nicola Tyler from Top Spec, producers of horse feed and supplements, Frank Grunnill, the FEI’s Chief Steward at HOYS and James Sutton, HOYS head vet, along with many others.  These talks, aimed at developing the students’ contacts in the industry and increasing their employability skills, were all very beneficial.

This study trip was a full packed 3 days, providing the students with a good insight into a variety of aspects of the equine industry.  All of the students thoroughly enjoyed the stay and gained a great deal from the experience.
