‘Winter Moments with Flowers’ in Bruges.
Students studying a variety of full and part-time floristry courses, from introduction through to the Level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry, recently travelled to Bruges to visit the 'Winter Moments with Flowers' exhibition.
This annual exhibition, organised by the flower arranging enthusiasts’ publication Fleur Creatif, provides a platform for master florists and decorators to display brilliant Christmas floral arrangements throughout the three floors of the old hospital building Oud-Sint-jan.
Students got to see installations on a variety of themes, including table set ups and installations using lights.
This display in one of the old hospital wards was beautiful. Constructed by Frederiek Van Pamel and his team, they used over 10,000 roses. Van Pamel has a beautiful shop in the centre of Bruges.
Another highlight was this impressive display, where hundreds of Swans lined the corridors.
As well as the installations, there were also stalls where the students could purchase floristry sundries. After a few hours spent at the event, there was a little free time to explore Bruges and purchase souvenirs before the coach journey home.
It was a long but interesting day for the students to build on their knowledge of international styles and techniques, which is a vital aspect of their studies.
