The College are working on the very first and largest ‘concept orchard’, showcasing the latest technology in automated systems including automated & AI management systems, innovative crop diversity, cleaner storage, and robotic fruit picking.
Planting a new orchard and vineyard at the Hadlow campus for students to learn up to date methods for growing these type of crops. The orchard will have a state of the art irrigation, fertigation and frost protection system. Planting is happening this spring and it will take up to 5 years to reach maximum cropping.
Exciting times lie ahead as the sustainability project gets underway – we cannot wait to see the first green shoots at the orchard.
