"I love all things practical, getting stuck in and learning on the job."
Sally Shepherd - Shepherdess, contract lambing in Cumbria
I knew I always wanted to study agriculture; I love all things practical, getting stuck in and learning on the job. Livestock practical’s and machinery were the most interesting parts of the course for me and I learnt many skills that I still use today – it’s all experience that adds up in the long run. After Hadlow, I went and worked on a dairy farm in Buckinghamshire, then moved on to work with sheep, lambing 2,100 of them in Wales. I then secured a full-time job in mid-Wales as a shepherdess, running 800 ewes.
