Sports Turf Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships. Pesticides PA1, PA2 and PA6, First Aid Training
"I started my Level 2 Apprenticeship at Croham Hurst Golf Club when I was just 16. Four years later I joined Millwall F.C as a qualified groundsman but had limited responsibilities so I undertook my Level 3 advanced apprenticeship."
Charlie Burrage - Head groundsperson at Millwall Football Club
Since completing my Level 3 I’ve earned a promotion to Assistant Head Groundsman. After 2 years in this position I was thrilled to accept the Head Groundsperson role. This summer the club is about to undergo a 7-figure pound project of which I've been heavily involved in. I’ve met with high profile employees at the club with discussions such as pitch construction, financial budget and team management throughout the project.
During my time at Hadlow I learnt to Improve my overall work performance with new skills and information learnt on the course and implemented this in the workplace. I was tutored by Anthony Stockwell who I still stay in contact with two years on.
I love working outside and working on pitch with over a billion living plants in an unnatural environment for grass to survive in. Showcasing my work to thousands of people on the TV and match days is a great experience.
The advice I would give to new apprentices joining the industry is to ask questions! You can never ask enough questions and we are all learning while in this profession, don’t be afraid to ask.
