Daniel Fisher - Deputy Head greenkeeper position at Canterbury Golf Club
I started my Level 2 apprenticeship at St. Augustine’s Golf Club. Halfway through the qualification I moved to North Foreland Golf Club. I stayed there for 3 years and completed Level 3. Shortly after that, I secured a job at the prestigious Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club where I stayed for 2 years. I recently then applied for Deputy Head greenkeeper position at Canterbury Golf Club. After an in-depth interview process, I was thrilled to accept the position.
During my time at Hadlow I learnt that whenever you get a chance to do an apprenticeship, do it, because it helps progress your career and also broadens your knowledge while getting paid at the same time. It’s the best of both worlds!
I love working outside and love the sense of community greenkeeping and golf clubs bring. I feel great pride looking at a project I have completed. The satisfaction level of my job is 100%
The advice I would give to new apprentices is to give it a go! Work hard and the results will outweigh the work that is put in.
