Students lifting net full of fish from water

Today marks the start of National Marine Week, an opportunity to celebrate all things aquatic and marine!

The event is hosted by Kent Wildlife Trust and actually spans a fortnight, taking place from today (Saturday 27 July) to Sunday 11 August, due to varying tidal conditions around the UK.

There are a number of free events taking place in the area to inspire and educate people about the wonder of marine wildlife.

The theme of the week is ‘Sea the Connection’, celebrating the diverse ways people feel connected to the sea. People can also share their favourite seaside memories, adventures and places on an interactive map that can be found on the Kent Wildlife Trust website.

If you have an interest in the marine world, then you might want to take a look at our Fisheries Management courses.

These courses will help you develop and enhance a range of skills including knowledge of fish biology and health, the management of aquatic environments and more, and you will be taught by lecturers who have worked in the industry in various sectors.

Our range of specialist fisheries facilities include Grove Farm Fishing Lake, a 2-hectare mixed coarse fishing lake and growing on ponds. It operates as a commercial fishery and fish farm, providing students with practical skills in carp husbandry, modern fisheries management practises and all aspects of fish farming and relevant legislation.

If you are interested in studying the subject visit the Fisheries Management page of the Hadlow College website.
