We are always looking to recruit volunteer counsellors and have onboarding processes 2-3 times per year (interview dates listed below). We encourage early applications to avoid disappointment. Interviews can take place prior to receiving your 'Fitness to Practice' with a view to complete the recruitment and induction process.

Recruitment
To ensure recruitment is as efficient as possible, if you are invited to interview, please ensure you note the below information and bring any listed documentation with you on the interview day:
References - You are asked to provide two referee names on the application form. These will need to cover a full two year period. If you believe they may not cover two consecutive years, please supply an additional name and contact details.
DBS checks - North Kent College has a statutory duty to operate Safer Recruitment and to create and maintain a safe and secure environment, in line with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education. As the role of Volunteer Counsellor involves working with children/young people, you would be required to undertake a DBS check as part of pre-placement checks. However, please let us know if you have previously applied for an Enhanced DBS check with Children’s Barred List, either within the past 12 months or registered with the DBS Update Service, as we may not need to process a new check in this case – Along with the documentation listed above, please bring your DBS certificate with you for review if you believe that it matches with our requirements.
Documents to bring:
- Evidence of professional membership, including expiry date
- Evidence of Fitness to Practice sign-off from your training organisation (when obtained)
- Evidence of any private professional indemnity insurance, including expiry date
- Evidence of Counselling Certificates obtained so far e.g. Certificate and Diploma level & evidence of any other specialist/extended studies relevant to the role
- Signed and fully completed supervision form
- DBS certificate where applicable
