This course has a mixture of practical and theory lessons and is delivered making use of the excellent Agricultural facilities including land and livestock. Working with our sheep flock, beef herd and practical workshops you will develop the skills needed for employability in this critical industry. Students can access a range of additional learning support, based on need, and are well supported using virtual learning resources. A range of employability skills will be developed whilst on the course including practical skills, communication, and land-based environmental specific knowledge, and development of ICT skills. Students will also get the opportunity to carry out work experience on external placements. Units covered may include Farm Livestock, Husbandry, Estate Skills, Plant and Soil Science amongst many others.

Entry Requirements
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grades 9 - 4 or equivalent (Level 2 Diploma), which must include GCSEs in English AND Maths 9 - 4 Grade or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills).
You should also have a keen interest in the subject and demonstrate a commitment to the curriculum area.

What progression options will I have?
Upon successful completion of the Diploma (two-year programme) you will be able to progress onto an Apprenticeship or a higher-level qualification including Foundation Degrees and or a BSc. Students also progress into employment within the industry within roles such as farm worker, crop technicians, livestock handlers, assistant farm managers and machinery operators.

Students will be assessed throughout the course using assignments, projects, practical tests, exams, and external assessments.
Students are encouraged to relate theory to practice in all assessments.
