A lecturer at Hadlow College had a rather unusual audience on a recent trip, he was invited to speak to the Finnish Animal Trainers’ Association!

Mark Beeching, a Lecturer in Animal Management at the College, was approached by an ex-student at the College, who is now part of the organisation, to speak to the group.

Verna Vilppula had found her BSc (Hons) Applied Behavioural Science and Welfare Degree she studied at Hadlow College so useful to her work she invited Mark to Finland to speak to her colleagues.

Mark spent two days talking to the group about the role of human psychology in the management of owners and animals and how it can be used to improve outcomes in terms of problem behaviour management and animal training.

For Mark the opportunity to speak to the group was a great experience, he said: “The trip was very successful and will help to create opportunities for guest speakers and possible future collaboration for our degree programmes and the Finnish Association of Animal Trainers.”
