This year our students’ union team held an end of year celebration events for all students to enjoy with help from the student support team.
The aim of the event was to celebrate another successful college year and the Student Union did that in style. Working in collaboration with the student support team, the SU students planned fantastic events at Hadlow campus. The planning took place on the lead up to the event, they encouraged curriculum areas to get involved as well as hiring outside companies.
The activities and stalls from outside venders available included Bouncy Castles (Tonbridge Bouncy Castles), 360 Photo Booth (360 Photobooth UK), Get It (Sexual Health), Rubin Clinic (Sexual Health) and Alice's ice's (Ice cream van). The National Centre for Reptile Welfare also joined the celebrations bringing over multiple animals for students to interact with including Boa constrictors, Bearded Dragons and the Meercat Alfie who I am told stole every one’s hearts. Students from the Animal Management department also ran a cake stool in aid of charity alongside department leader Jo Saunders.
The students’ union host many events throughout the year including Freshers Fair at the beginning of the academic year. They are always happy to welcome new members and bring fresh ideas to the college!
Emma-Marie Bridgeland, Student Welfare and Safeguarding Officer (Tonbridge & Hadlow) commented ‘I would like to thank the Student Union for their hard work with particular attention to Elizabeth Sheriff (Chair Person) Charlie Oborne (Diversity Officer) and Zara Cook (Events manager), not to mention the countless students and staff who volunteered their help spontaneously on the day at the Glitter Tattoo station (Oscar Byard and Fiona Hassan being two of our main tattoo artists for the event).’
She continued ‘Furthermore, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Estates teams at Tonbridge and Hadlow for all their hard work and support, without whom the events would not have got off the ground. I would also like to send a shout out to Karen, Sue and their hard-working teams at ABM for coming up with such a delicious menu for each event at such short notice.’
